Jools and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, with their massed horns, strings and backing vocalists, will be joined by a variety of big names old and new, with the cream of this year's biggest acts performing the big tunes from 2009, as well as an array of classics to get everyone into a swinging party mood.
As well as a fine array of musical entertainment, stars from the worlds of TV, film, stage, comedy, art and more will be dropping into the studio, sharing their thoughts on the old year and their hopes for the new. And the new decade will be brought in, as ever, by the pipes and drums of the 1st Battalion of The Scots Guards.
The Annual Hootenanny 2009 is simulcast on the BBC HD channel – the BBC's High Definition channel, available through Freesat, Sky and Virgin Media.
